Concept design for An Aquatic Complex Folding out of the Land

Nahre A'azam - Shiraz,Iran

This aquatic recreation complex is located on a riverside land in the vicinity of suburban developments. Responding to the threshold condition between the river and adjacent orchards on one side and low-quality housing development on the other, the formal language is to embody the context’s tensions . Thus the faceted planes rise from the land and forms a permeable planning strategy that avoids producing solid objects and walls; instead it is to be a movement and viewing machine that amplifies the natural context for its audience. The roof planes also include streams of water on them to create a "horizontal waterfall" and a micro climate of its own in the arid summers the way the city's orchards have served the region traditionally.
